Black Magic Cake
Black Magic Cake
Over the years I worked diligently to master the baking of
special occasion cakes. The recipes came
from around the world through the promise of colorful photographs found within
baking books and from the heart of a close friend from Sweden. I spent hours creating personal
decorations. The layers of my cakes held
hidden treasures of ganache, buttercream, royal icing and curds.
For many years this chocolate cake recipe was kept a secret,
hidden from even my best of friends.
Consistently it proved to be the number one choice of cakes among
children and adults.
This is a one bowl cake.
Preparation time: 10 minutes.
Baking time: 35 minutes.
Measure all ingredients below. Make sure eggs are at room temperature. Combine each ingredient below in the order
given. Beat at medium speed for 2
minutes.
1- ¾ Cup flour
2 Cups Sugar (this is not a sweet cake)
¾ Hershey’s cocoa
2-teaspoons baking soda
1-teaspoons baking powder
1-teaspoon salt
½ Cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1 Cup coffee (2 tsp ground coffee and 1 cup boiling water)
1 Cup sour milk (1 Tbsp. vinegar and milk equal to 1 cup)
The batter will be thin. Pour into a buttered 13x9, 2- 9 inch round
pans or 20 cupcakes. Bake at 350
degrees. Test for doneness with a wooden
toothpick. Let cake cool in pan for 10
minutes.
Enjoy, keep the secret or share with your family and
friends!
